Summer 2022 A Level Maths Advance Information

NEW: SUGGESTED WORK FOR PAPER 3 PREPARATION

The A Level Maths advance information material (below) for the 2022 Summer exams is now out after months of anticipation. All four of the exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR and OCR (MEI)) have released a document the Maths and Further Maths AS Levels and A Levels.

Before you get too excited, however, remember that every other student in the country now has access to this so it’s not such a big secret. However, if you use this information in the right way, you can certainly maximise your chances of exam success.

My advice:

  1. Don’t trawl these topic lists to look for topics that are NOT going to be on the exam. It will waste your time. Use it more as a list of what you positively should be focussing your attention on.
  2. Don’t assume that if a topic is not explicitly on the list that it will not be examined. Take solving quadratic equations, for example, or completing the square. They don’t appear on some of the exam boards’ advance materials listing, yet are FUNDAMENTAL skills throughout A Level Maths, almost certain to appear.
  3. Don’t try to second guess the type of question that will be on a paper for a particular topic mentioned on the advance material listing. You have little to no chance of guessing correctly.
  4. Use my A Level Maths questions by category and A Level Further Maths questions by category to help you revise.
  5. If you need extra help in focusing your attention towards these areas, check out my A Level Maths Easter Revision Course at the University of York.
