Properties of Vectors (Addition, Magnitude and Direction) | Year 1 Pure | A Level Maths

Vectors are an essential language for both pure maths and mechanics, and this lesson sets up the basics. In this lesson you will learn how to use column-vector notation and the i, j unit vectors in two dimensions, add vectors using the triangle and parallelogram laws, calculate the magnitude using Pythagoras, and convert between component form and magnitude/direction form. The skills developed here support later work on parallel and perpendicular vectors and on vector mechanics.
