Trigonometric Identities | Year 1 Pure | A Level Maths

Trigonometric identities are a central tool for simplifying expressions and proving further results. In this lesson you will learn how to use tan(theta) = sin(theta) / cos(theta) and the Pythagorean identity sin^2(theta) + cos^2(theta) = 1, and apply them to solve trig equations and to construct rigorous proofs. These identities feature heavily in AO2 questions and underpin all of the Year 2 trig work, including reciprocal functions, compound angles and double angle formulae.
