Summing Arithmetic Sequences | Year 2 Pure | A Level Maths
Summing an arithmetic sequence is a classic A-level technique and the proof of the formula is itself examinable. In this lesson you will learn how to use the sum formulae S_n = (n/2)(2a + (n — 1) d) and S_n = (n/2)(a + l), present the derivation as a proof, and apply the formulae including to the sum of the first n natural numbers. The lesson covers sigma notation, mixed arithmetic problems and modelling with arithmetic sequences.
