Algebraic fractions appear throughout Year 2 pure maths in calculus, partial fractions and modulus problems. In this lesson you will learn how to simplify rational expressions by factorising the numerator and denominator and cancelling common factors, with denominators that may be linear or quadratic. The skills developed here support algebraic division by linear expressions, partial fractions, and integration of rational functions.
