Simultaneous Equations Involving Quadratics | Year 1 Pure | A Level Maths

Solving simultaneous equations involving a linear and a quadratic equation is a standard A-level skill that combines algebraic manipulation with careful substitution. In this lesson you will learn how to substitute from the linear equation into the quadratic, solve the resulting quadratic in one variable, and recover both coordinates of each solution. This method extends to systems involving powers of 2 in one or both unknowns, and is used heavily in coordinate geometry when finding intersections.
