Completing The Square | Year 1 Pure | A Level Maths
Completing the square is a fundamental quadratic technique that reveals the vertex form of a parabola and underpins many later topics. In this lesson you will learn how to rewrite ax^2 + bx + c in the form a(x + b/(2a))^2 + c — b^2/(4a), use the result to find minimum or maximum points, sketch the curve, and solve quadratic equations. The skill is also essential for proving the quadratic formula, deriving the equation of a circle, and integrating certain rational functions.
