Set and interval notation provides a precise language for describing solution sets and is used throughout the course in inequalities, probability and functions. In this lesson you will learn the symbols for elements, subsets, the empty set, unions and intersections, and how to express solutions to inequalities such as x b in the equivalent set-builder form. Mastering this notation makes communicating mathematical arguments accurate and is rewarded under AO2.
