Polynomial Division | Year 1 Pure | A Level Maths
Polynomial division is a key algebraic technique that supports the factor theorem and later work on rational expressions. In this lesson you will learn how to divide a polynomial by a linear expression of the form (ax + b) or (ax — b), present the working clearly using long division, and identify the quotient and remainder. The technique is needed for factorising cubics such as x^3 + 3x^2 — 4 and 6x^3 + 11x^2 — x — 6, and for simplifying rational expressions in Year 2.
