Particles Over A Pulley | Year 1 Mech | A Level Maths
Particles connected over a smooth pulley are a staple of A-level mechanics and combine Newton’s second and third laws elegantly. In this lesson you will learn how to model two particles connected by a light, inextensible string over a smooth pulley, write down the equation of motion for each particle in turn, and solve simultaneously to find the tension in the string and the common acceleration. The lesson includes lift problems and similar connected-particle situations.
