Product and Quotient Rule | Year 2 Pure | A Level Maths
The product and quotient rules complete the trio of essential differentiation rules. In this lesson you will learn how to use the product rule (uv)’ = u’ v + u v’, the quotient rule (u/v)’ = (u’ v — u v’) / v^2, and combine them with the chain rule on functions such as 2 x^4 sin x, 3 e^x / x, cos^2 x and tan^2 (2x). These rules are essential for the rest of the calculus course.
