Chain Rule (Functions Of Polynomials) | Year 2 Pure | A Level Maths
The chain rule extends differentiation to composite functions and is one of the three workhorses of A-level calculus. In this lesson you will learn how to differentiate composite functions of the form f(g(x)) using the rule (d/dx) f(g(x)) = f'(g(x)) g'(x), apply the rule to functions such as (3x + 1)^5 and ln(2x + 1), and combine it with the standard derivatives. The chain rule is essential for connected rates of change and implicit differentiation.
