Solving exponential equations is one of the most useful applications of logarithms in A-level maths. In this lesson you will learn how to take logs of both sides of an equation of the form a^x = b, apply the power law of logarithms to bring the exponent down, and use the change-of-base formula where helpful. Examples include equations such as 2^(3x — 1) = 3 and harder mixed forms that lead into modelling questions.
