Equation of a Circle | Year 1 Pure | A Level Maths
The equation of a circle is a key topic in coordinate geometry and connects directly to completing the square. In this lesson you will learn how to use the form (x — a)^2 + (y — b)^2 = r^2, find the radius and centre from a given equation by completing the square, and recognise the alternative form x^2 + y^2 + 2fx + 2gy + c = 0. The skills developed here are used in problems on tangents, normals, chords and circumcircles.
