FAQs About Online A Level Maths Tuition

The following are questions I often get asked about my one-to-one online tutoring. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to email me using the email address at the top of the page.

  • Who delivers the online A Level Maths/Further Maths tuition?
    • The tuition is delivered by myself, John Armstrong, the owner of ALevelMathsRevision.com and the main contributor to the site. I am an experienced teacher of A Level Maths and Further Maths in an English sixth-form and have exam board marking experience. I have been classroom teaching and privately tutoring both A Level Maths and Further Maths for many years now and so know the syllabuses inside out; where to gain marks, what mistakes to avoid and how to help students gain the confidence to achieve. I have tutored students from many of the top schools in the country, including Winchester College, Charterhouse, Benenden, Repton as well as many schools in the state sector. If you have any questions, simply fill in an online enquiry form and I will happily talk about my credentials and what I feel I can do to help your son/daughter.
  • How much does tuition cost?
    • I charge £60 per hour for tuition. This is certainly not cheap, but for this rate you are getting undivided attention of an experienced teacher with all of the experience and credentials outlined below.
  • What are your credentials?
    • An experienced classroom teacher of A Level Maths and Further Maths; whilst many tutors without classroom experience claim that classroom teachers lack one-to-one tuition experience and so may not be suited, nothing could be further from the truth. Currently practising classroom teachers have access to all of the best teaching and revision materials, often getting regular updates from the exam board on changes to syllabuses. I have many years of classroom teaching experience and have built up a bank of resources over the years, some of which I have shared for free on this website.
    • Many years of one-to-one tutoring experience; it is also important to ask about the experience that a one-to-one tutor has: whether they have experience across a broad range of students, whether they have taught in the private or public sector; the one-to-one relationship between tutor and student is extremely important and if your son/daughter is to get the most out of the tuition, it is very important to ask these questions about experience. As well as classroom teaching, I have been one-to-one tutoring for many years now. Just read some of the testimonials left for me by past students and their parents.
    • A masters’ degree in mathematics graded “distinction”; I have an in-depth understanding of mathematics stretching far beyond the A Level Maths and Further Maths syllabus, meaning I can help students gain an in-depth understanding of how and why the processes they are expected to apply work.
  • Why online A Level Maths/Further Maths tuition?
    • In the past, access to experienced A Level Maths tutors has been restricted by geographical location; with the rise in popularity or online tuition and people becoming more aware of what technologies are available, online tuition can be as good as having a tutor sat next to you. The following testimonial highlights this point:
  • What is your approach to tutoring?
    • I help students build confidence in a subject area by providing clear, in-depth explanations and help students consolidate those skills with intense practising. And practice is the key; the best students practise a topic not just until they feel they can do it, but until it cannot go wrong!
  • How does online A Level Maths tuition work?
    • This is a very good question and the answer is very in-depth, therefore I have dedicated an entire page to it here.
