The Ultimate Study Tool for A Level Maths

Helping Students Succeed

The Ultimate Study Tool for A Level Maths is focussed on student progress and attainment, following a three-step learning model to ensure retention of content.

Every topic in the A Level Maths syllabus has been mapped out and an in-depth tutorial video recorded, explaining topics clearly from basics by means of carefully crafted examples.

Accompanying each tutorial video are worksheets giving students the opportunity to practice the skills learnt. Each worksheet comes with FULL WORKED SOLUTIONS, showing you exactly HOW to get to the answers.

To consolidate knowledge in an exam context, at the end of each section there are exam questions on that particular topic, allowing you to apply the newly learnt skills and improve fluency and accuracy.

Saving Teachers Time and Stress

Designed by me (John Armstrong) an experienced teacher of A Level Maths, particular attention has been paid to reducing your workload. I’ve done the work so you don’t have to!

Direct your time to where it matters – helping students learn – by using fully planned and resources lessons. Each lesson has:

  • A set of teacher notes to aid delivery of lessons and ensure the content is fully covered.
  • Key examples for the teacher to work through at the front of the class.
  • A lesson – specific student note template to ensure students write exactly what you want them to write in their notes.
  • A relevant work sheet with full worked solutions.
  • A tutorial video that exactly covers the lesson plan in case students are absent.
  • Every lesson has a homework associated with it
  • Decide whether to collect in homeworks to mark, or to have the homework self-marked.
  • Identify at-risk students with automated progress and performance analysis reports.
  • Analyse trends and patterns across different classes.
  • Decide when students access lessons.
  • Change the order of lessons to suit your schemes of work.

Frequently Asked Questions About the UK Linear A-Level Maths

Since September 2017, the A Level Maths content has been examined by three exams at the end of the two-year course (or two exams at the end of one year for students who opt to study the one year “AS Level” option). How these exams are structured, however, depends on the exam board, but more on this later. The materials found on this website are a designed to cover all of the A Level Maths specifications across all exam boards.

Are your A-Level Maths tutorial videos relevant to my exam board?

Yes! In the current A-Level Maths syllabus, all exam boards are required to teach the same content (something which has never been a requirements in the past) so you can be sure that all of our content is relevant to your studies. There are some very minor differences between how the content is examined between exam boards, but to reiterate, the content is broadly the same.

How will I be examined?

The A-Level Maths in its current form has been taught in schools and colleges since September 2017. There were a number of significant changes made to the syllabus and to the way the A-Level Maths course is examined. Firstly, current A-Level Maths is described as being a “linear” course. This refers to the fact that the course is examined at the end of the course, as opposed to the outgoing “modular” course in which the course was examined throughout the two years (one year for AS Level Maths) that the A-Level Maths course runs.

There are four exam boards that will be running the new A-Level Maths: AQAEdexcelOCR and OCR (MEI). In a big step forward, for the first time ever the content taught in A-Level Maths across all of the exam boards will be exactly the same. It is only how the material is examined that will differ. The following table gives information about the exam format for each of the exam boards.

Does my AS exam result contribute to my final A-Level grade?

No. AS Maths is a stand-alone qualification completely separate from the A-Level qualification and does not contribute to the final A-Level grade.
