A Level Maths A* Exam Questions

This is Question 8 from the Jan 2009 C4 paper (OCR 4754). It is one of the harder questions on the paper and is included here as part of the A* collection — the questions most likely to discriminate between an A and an A* grade.

This question brings together Parametric Equations, Trigonometry: Compound and Double Angle Formulae and Trigonometry: Secant, Cosecant and Cotangent. Strong candidates are expected to move fluently between these topics within a single multi-part question, so it is a good test of synoptic understanding.
